To use private or shared channels with the integration for Microsoft Teams, you must go into each private/shared channel in Teams and add the Introw app. A private channel in Teams is shown with a 🔒 icon, and a shared channel (which can include external partner users) is shown with a linked-people icon. For instructions on how to add the Introw app to one of these channels, read on!
Step 1
Open Microsoft Teams and navigate to the private or shared channel that you would like to use with the integration. Click the ••• (more options) icon next to the channel name and select Manage channel.
From the channel settings, open the Apps tab and click Add an app.
Note: In Microsoft Teams, apps installed at the team level are not automatically available in private or shared channels. Each private and shared channel needs the Introw app added individually.
Step 2
Search for "Introw" to locate the Introw app. Click Add to install it into the private/shared channel.
Once added, the Introw bot will be a member of the channel and can post notifications and respond to AI Agent prompts inside that channel.
Note: You must repeat this process for each private or shared channel that you would like to use with the Microsoft Teams integration.
Step 3
Go to your Introw account.
Navigate to Settings > Integrations and click on the Microsoft Teams integration.
The private or shared channel will now appear in the dropdown — link it to the appropriate partner portal.
Step 4
Choose which internal notifications you want to receive in your connected Microsoft Teams channels, and configure partner notifications under Engage > Notifications for the channels shared with your partners.
Troubleshooting
If the private or shared channel still doesn't appear in the Introw dropdown after adding the app, try the following:
Confirm the Introw app is listed in the channel's Apps tab (not just at the team level).
For shared channels with external partner users, confirm your tenant allows external collaboration and that the channel owner has accepted any pending invitations.
If the integration was authorized before the Introw app was published to your tenant's app catalog, disconnect and reconnect Microsoft Teams from Settings > Integrations in Introw, then refresh the channel list.
If a Microsoft 365 Global Admin needs to approve the Introw app for your tenant, share the consent link with your IT administrator. Without admin approval, the app may not be installable in restricted channels.
